Who said you can’t have an updo with a bob? I’m pretty sure I thought that until Jenny Strebe of The Confessions of a Hairstylist proved me wrong. In this romantic upstyle, Jenny ran a contest for hairstylists around the US to enter in their unique looks. A panel of judges picked the “Modern Vintage” look by Melissa of Melissa Marie Hair. Modern vintage just happens to be one of my favorite oxymorons. You might think that you can’t have modern and vintage together, but Melissa and Jenny combine the two perfectly. In case you’re not exactly sure of the definition, modern vintage refers to modern elements in design, art, and photography that reference and borrow from vintage elements, or use vintage items interspersed within modern. When asked what my wedding theme was, my husband and I always answered saying “modern vintage.” It also happens to be our personal style in our house, so it seems fitting for that to be the title of today’s hairstyle.
