In early November, Aaron and I went to Chicago, IL for my cousin Timmy’s wedding. I’ve been to Chicago many times since my parents are from the suburbs and most of my extended family still lives in the area. I figured it would be the perfect time to rope Sara into doing a photo shoot with me (more on this here.) Luckily, I was able to connect with a photographer who lives in the midwest and she thought it would be a fun opportunity to do a road trip to the city with her girlfriends.

Arizona has roughly four weeks of winter at the most, so I was excited to wear my new “winter” clothes in Chicago. As you can see here, if I wore these clothes during the actual winter season in Chicago I wouldn’t last an hour. However, a nice light-weight jacket from NYDJ (click here for more info), and over-the-knee boots from Sam Edelman (click here for more info) made for the perfect fall/winter look. What made it even better is that my cousin and I were almost matching without discussing our looks before. I even picked us up matching (fake) Gucci belts. (I love Gucci, but can’t afford the price tag for a belt. Don’t kill me. I haven’t supported designer knock-offs since purse parties were a thing in High School, but Sara had been obsessing over these belts and they really completed the look. UPDATE – Sara now has the big GG Gucci belt thanks to her hubby treating her for Christmas.)

My favorite thing about this whole look is the FOX t-shirt. My friend, Candice, texted me a screenshot of this shirt by MATE the Label from Revolve. I fell in love immediately and knew I had to have it. I don’t typically buy myself “cat” or “fox” related items because my wonderful friends and family will usually give me random animal-related items. However, this was a shirt I knew I had to have. It is so soft, comfortable and perfectly pairs with pants or shorts. I didn’t love the color at first, since it’s so close to my skin color, but it’s slowly grown on me. $75 is a bit expensive for what it is, but I thought it was definitely worth the sale price of $45 because of the quality. I’m wearing a S/M and it’s pretty long, so if you’re a size 6 or under the M/L will probably be like a sleep shirt on you. What kind of items do your friends and family purchase for you? My grandma loved owls and so does my sister-in-law, so whenever I see something with owls I always think of them. Comment below!

Aww you girls are so beautiful! And funny story about the Gucci belt–I had been whining about wanting one. My friend found one in a thrift store in Nebraska–I have no idea if its real or and don’t care haha. So sweet right?!!?

No way!! That is the sweetest friend ever! Finding one in a thrift store is way better than buying it new. How special! Maybe one day I’ll score one too. 🙂
