November 1st seemed to mark the change of season here in Arizona. My husband and I went out on Halloween, which felt like a heat wave in our costumes, then we woke up to a gorgeous fall morning.

There was a crispness in the air and some clouds in the sky. That evening felt a little chilly as we were on the back patio at The Vig for a friend’s birthday. This past week continued to feel like fall was in the air until yesterday. I wore riding boots and a light-weight, knit, three-quarter-sleeve, short jacket and it was hot! I guess Arizona hasn’t progressed as far into fall as I was hoping.

Chicago Skyline

In order to dress for these Indian Summer days, I’m reverting back to my recent vacation in Chicago. My husband and I went to Chicago in early September with some friends. The majority of my cousins live in Chicago so it’s always great to get back and see family too. It was the end of their summer and the beginning of their fall, which means that the weather is very comparable to the weather Arizona is having right now. Here are some simple, but key suggestions when planning what to wear.

Although I’m super excited about fall and being able to wear scarves, boots, jackets, pants, etc. it’s still a little warm. To keep the balance with the fall clothes and the AZ weather, I suggest opting for short boots and light weight scarves. I am still getting away with tank tops or sleeveless tops without even bringing a jacket. If you get cold easily, then I suggest bringing something lightweight just in case. Don’t be afraid to brighten up your look with some colorful jeans (worn by Traci) or a bold printed scarf (as shown on Dina). The items I’m wearing (above) are a tank top by Parker (purchased at Intermix), jeans by Joe’s Jeans and boots by Steve Madden (both purchased at Nordstrom). A great transition for men’s fashion is wearing a light weight long sleeve shirt, as worn by my husband Aaron.

Using the same ideas in my second look, I am wearing a lace top from Anthropologie with a lace bra underneath from Urban Outfitters. The lace on lace doesn’t give anything away and it blends in just perfectly. As I mentioned in my blog post Indian Summer – Part I, I love the look of lace without a cami underneath as long as it’s not too noticeable or showing too much skin. I paired this top with a different pair of Joe’s Jeans (obviously my favorite, purchased at Macy’s) and a pair of tan/camel Coach ankle boots (purchased at Nordstrom Rack). This night I brought a light jacket just in case as there was a breeze in the air (not pictured). Another great look is wearing a plaid button down worn by Traci. I love her shirt because it gives a slight twist on the classic button down. If you can tell it has pleats down the front. Not to forget the boys, but they all look great in their plaid button down, striped sweater and gray/black striped knit t-shirt – perfect fall colors!

The third night we went to my cousin Sara’s fiance’s restaurant, Rosebud on Rush, for dinner. I decided to get a little dressed up and wear the A.L.C. silk sleeveless blouse that is featured in my earlier blog post Indian Summer – Part I, tucked into my Mason leather skirt (both purchased at Barney’s) with my Jimmy Choo wedding shoes (purchased at Last Chance). Our friend (and apparently amateur photographer), Ryan, had some fun with the our impromptu photo-shoot.

Enjoy the summer-to-fall transitional weather! This is truly the best time of the year in Arizona. It doesn’t last for very long, so get outside and rock an amazing outfit today!
