Since turning 22 years old I’ve had the joy of attending at least one wedding a year. I believe the most weddings I’ve been to during a 12-month time frame was six, and four of them happened within two months of each other. Luckily, I was in four of those weddings so I didn’t have to worry about purchasing a new dress for each wedding, since the hard work of choosing the dresses for the bridesmaids was done for me.

Now, almost ten years later, Aaron and I have at least two or three weddings a year and I love styling a unique #glamready look for each event. Depending on the time of year, the venue, the theme/style of the wedding, etc. I can play off those details and create a look completely different from the next wedding I attend. It’s hard to purchase a new dress for each wedding, so having a classic dress that can work for different events, like a gala or a fashion show, but can be styled differently is a huge plus in my book.

Lace is a classic trend that will never go out of style. I have a strapless cobalt blue lace dress from DVF that has a similar feel to this one. The darker foresty green shown here, which is called Olive or in some cases Army, is such a hot color this year. The undertones really warm up your skintone and hair color. It’s complemented well with golds and nudes, like gold jewelry, gold highlighters, nude lipsticks, nude shoes, etc. The back and sleeves are see-through lace, where the rest of the dress has the same color liner. The see-through lace details is such a fun and sexy look, but not overly sexy as there are still sleeves to balance out the short skirt and bodycon style.

For the hair and makeup, Lauren from Gossamer Salon gave me the Selena Gomez wave (keep an eye out for the tutorial), which is the perfect juxtaposition from the classic dress look. I loved the mixture of the different waves to create texture and organized chaos in my hair. Leiah from The Sparkle Bar, created the perfect makeup look. She kept the colors more neutral, but still gave me a bold eye and kept the focus on the cheekbones that were defined by the perfect shimmer highlighter. I loved the nude lipcolor she used too. Also, I would like everyone to know that I did not wear fake eyelashes for this shoot. Leiah gave me the best compliment and said that my eyelashes look like fake lashes already, so I didn’t need them 🙂 Thank you Lash Boost!

Join me at an exclusive invite-only event on Thursday, March 16th. I am hosting the monthly TSB Social Club with The Sparkle Bar. I will be styling three different a head to toe looks that can be worn to a gala, a wedding, a fashion show, etc. The Sparkle Bar will have a live demo of three different makeup tricks to do at home to “Get Glam Ready.” Gossamer Salon will have three different upstyles to pair with the makeup looks. Lastly, gowns and jewelry will be displayed to complete the look. Pearce Family Foundation will be in attendance to talk about their upcoming charity fashion show, Runway of Hope, which you will have the chance to win a ticket to their fashion show with a $10 donation. This event will be the perfect inspiration for your upcoming spring soirees. There are only a few more seats available. Please email katrina@thefoxykat.com for more information.
