It’s starting to warm up in Arizona, but the mornings are still a little brisk. It’s my favorite time of the year because you can enjoy the weather outside without being too cold or too hot. Especially when exercising, I’d rather be warm then too cold, so I always have a light sweater with me to wear just in case. At BODI, there are days when we will run a loop outside around the gym, which is along the canal. Sprints are a great way to wake your body up with an unexpected burst of energy.

I used to find that running is a great way for me to clear my mind, listen to music and blast calories while enjoying the outdoors. Now, my knees hurt if I run too long and I don’t feel like it’s as great of a workout as maybe a HIIT class might be. I’m realizing that now more than ever I need to listen to my body and exercise in a way that not only burns calories, but also is spiritual for me as a stress reliever and is conditioning by building muscles around my joints to strengthen my knees. Plus, I’d rather spend less time working out and burning the most amount of calories during that shorter period of time, which is what HIIT classes do for me.

If you’re in the market for a comfortable running shoe, I highly suggest the Nike Free Fly Knit. I love black, white and grey shoes, so these are perfect for me. I thought that a shoe made out of a knit material would be too loose, but actually it perfectly molds to my feet without being too tight or too loose and it feels like you’re running on air.

The sweater and pants here are Lululemon and the pants I’ve actually featured as a casual legging here too.

  1. Omg I feel you! I’ve always been a runner but I no longer feel it’s good for my (knees) totally agree that a high intensity class is probably a better route. Let’s workout again soon.

  2. Flyknits are seriously the best! Totally agree with running not being the best for you. My knees are beat up so my runs are no longer the same as they used to be! Sad!
