026Last week, I shared a blog post all about what a great steal these Sam Edelman boots and Quay sunglasses are. This week, I’m showing a fall fashion look with a downtown vibe. While in Beacon Hill Boston with my husband during his work trip, we went downtown to go shopping. Even though the temperature was in the 30’s and 40’s, it seemed like everywhere we went was blasting heat. I figured what perfect way to cool down in the heated building, but stay warm in the cold outdoors than to wear a crop top under my flannel shirt and coat (for the coat, take a look at last week’s post here.)

02839054There’s a time and a place to wear a crop top. I’m not confident enough to only wear a crop top, unless I am wearing something high waisted. With a flannel shirt, I’m able to button one or two buttons towards the bottom of the shirt so that I’m not letting it all hang out, but I’m still getting the crop top look. This crop top I found in the BP section at Nordstrom and it was under $15. Adding a chunky chain layering necklace is the perfect addition for this look. This necklace is by Kendra Scott. It’s an open chain, so you have multiple options with how to wear it. You can tie it in front, wrap it like a choker, wear it open, or tie a double knot.

060Typically, the time to wear a crop top would be in the summer because you’re tan and the temperatures are warm. However, I’m loving the look of a crop with a flannel. If you get warm enough, you could always take off the flannel and tie it around your waist. I found my flannel at Nordstrom Rack for less than $20. It’s so soft and comfy. I even wear it over a pair of Lululemon yoga pants and Nikes. It’s long enough to cover my butt and not too tight. I suggest purchasing a flannel as a staple for your wardrobe.
