A few weeks ago I was able to participate in the #CatchMeAtLuxe Photo Shoot Out. The creator Bre Geiger started this unique event to connect local creatives. As a blogger, I was one of seven total bloggers to sign up for the event on Saturday, April 7th from 1pm – 6pm. In addition, 13 photographers signed up and worked in pairs of two (one photographer was on her own) to take photos of each individual blogger. It was a great way to meet other women who have similar interests as me and it was a great way to incorporate additional collaborations for hair, makeup and jewelry.
For this shoot, I worked with Sarah from Simply Stunning Bridal for my hair (@simplystunningbridal). She even came to the location to update my hair at my first outfit change. For makeup, I working with Heather from Heather N Artistry for the first time (@heathernartistry). It’s such a small world as we realized that we both went to the same middle school. Modern Mood Jewelry is the jewelry company who I partnered with for this shoot as well (@modernmoodjewelry). I was unclear about how many total outfits I would be wearing, so Modern Mood dressed me for three looks and I worn jewelry from Rocksbox for the fourth outfit. Each outfit gave off a different vibe and was from different brands. I’ll be digging deeper into the specific looks, but I wanted to give you a sneak peek of my favorite photos from each photographer.
The tricky part to working with multiple photographers at one time is that I wanted to be sure that we utilized all locations around the Graduate Hotel. Ultimately each blogger and photographer would want to shoot in a different location each time, but if you shot in that location with the prior photographer or blogger you would have duplicate images. It seems as though I received a good variety of images and locations, so those worries didn’t end up being a big deal for me. Also, for each outfit, I worked with a total of 3-4 photographers, so I have a great deal of photos to choose from for each look!
If you’re a blogger or a photographer who is either new to the game, needs images to build a portfolio or content, or is looking to meet likeminded people, I highly suggest looking into a photo shoot out. Also, depending on your interests, Bre runs a shoot out for mommy bloggers and their littles in case that would be of interest to you. Let me know if you have any questions about how a shoot out works! Now having done one I feel like a pro.
