Phoenix Fashion Week was exhilarating… I was fortunate enough to go as a guest of my friend and blogger Lauren from What Lola Likes. It took me two weeks just to go through all of my photos from one night! I attending the closing events on Saturday, October 4th. I was able to see four designers, the announcement of the designer of the year and three couture designers (featured in Part II). Most of all I was able to walk around and meet up and coming designers from around the country (featured in Part III) and meet other local bloggers.

The first designer to walk the run way was Adoire by Saba. In this collection I found that the common theme was embellished gowns, anywhere from formal dresses to bohemian flowy dresses. I loved the grey-blue color and ease of the dress below. I could picture these dresses at a formal beach wedding.

Next up was Hues of Ego. From the short film to introduce the collection, I really wasn’t sure what to expect other than edgy. The first piece set the stage and the remainder of pieces followed. The collection was very current (with the jumpsuit and shirt dress), on-season (with the outerwear pieces), and a bit rock-star edgy (high slits, face masks, couture first and last looks). The collection felt like it was straight from an “it-girl’s” closet who takes risks, but is on-trend.

Third to present was Jacqueline Nicole. Her pieces felt like the styles of clothing that every girl wants to wear right now. There was a great selection of separates, crop tops and party skirts, as well as beautiful gowns that are begging to be worn to a fancy gala event. The collection was put together in a sense where the outfit combinations made sense for the every day girl. It looked like multiple pieces were interchangeable. Overall the pieces were very on-trend and easy to wear. Jacqueline herself is wearing one of her own looks (high-waisted sequin skirt with a crop top).

Lillienne Lang was my favorite featured designer of the night. Her pieces looked straight from New York Fashion Week and followed the utilitarian trend, but with her own girly flare. I loved the construction of the jumpsuit looks and the jacket/pant combinations. Each one had a different feel from the next, but were well constructed in a cool, modern, interesting way that I haven’t seen before. It was a good combination of embellishment to construction details. It seemed like a lot of pant looks, but her dresses and skirts were beautifully done as well. These items were unique from each other in the sense that you could own each piece and it wouldn’t look like you own seven of the same looks.

Lastly, Rayan showed their collection to close out the featured designers of Phoenix Fashion Week. Rayan showed some spectacular long slinky dresses that were featured in a great array of color options and offered a variety of details to stand out from the rest. My favorite look was the first dress that had an asymmetrical cape. The styling and color felt very red carpet. The remainder of the dresses gave off a polished look that anyone could accomplish. These dresses would work great for a black tie event or wedding without being too fussy.

Right after intermission the Designer of the Year was announced, Misha Mendicino! Although I missed her show, I could tell from what she was wearing that her collection was cute and comfortable for the everyday girl to wear, which can be difficult to find without looking like everyone else.

Stay tuned, there’s more to come….
