The Friday night of Phoenix Fashion Week tends to be my favorite night. Thursday night is full of excitement, but by Friday night the kinks are smoothed out and it seems like the crowd is the liveliest. Saturday is of course fun too, especially with the couture designs, but personally I’m always exhausted by the third night. Since I work on Fridays, I tend to treat myself to a hair and makeup appointment on that night, which always makes the evening extra fun.

I scheduled an appointment with Lauren from Gossamer Salon for my hair and following that I went to The Sparkle Bar for my makeup. If you read about my PHXFW Look #1, then you know all about my experience at The Sparkle Bar and how to get $20 off when booking your next service. For my hair, I knew that I wanted a style that kept my hair off of my face, but down with soft curls. I’m a sucker for braids, so when Lauren mentioned that she had an idea that involved a fishtail braid, I was all in. I’ve been to Gossamer Salon several times at this point and Lauren has styled my hair a couple of times. I was very happy with both hair styles. I love the soft curls/waves that she gave me this time and the fishtail braid adds some dimension while also bringing my hair out of my face. I slept with my hair in and the braid kept till the next day! I was so sad when I took it out to go to the gym. Similar to The Sparkle Bar, Gossamer Salon is offering a referral credit. When you mention my name and/or The Foxy Kat blog, you’ll receive 20% off of your first service. More information is at the bottom of the blog post.

It made me feel like a princess all night. I loved the high neckline and the contrasting low back. The way that it cut in at the waist and had flat thick pleats at the skirt, was super flattering. Having a high to low hem helped to reduce the amount of fabric, which made it lighter and allowed me to show off a little leg. I think having a full skirt would have created a totally different look. The high-low hem allowed the dress to have a fashion forward look, while still holding true to the elegant fabric materials and fabric colors. I didn’t want to overdo the dress. I wanted the dress to be the showstopper, so I added a translucent opal necklace from Kendra Scott and nude Christian Louboutin heels. I really love how the whole head to toe look came together.
