I’m very excited to talk about an event that is very near and dear to my heart. Next Friday, I’ll be attending Runway of Hope, which is a charity fashion show. I wasn’t able to attend last year’s event, so I’m looking forward to not only supporting Pearce Family Foundation, who raises money for families with a child facing a chronic or life-threatening illness, but also my friend and founder/CEO Meghan Pearce. The second annual Runway of Hope is being held on Friday, March 18, 2016 with the doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 8pm.

Before listing off the events of the fashion show, let me tell you about Meghan. Her and I met through pledging Gamma Phi Beta at the University of Arizona. Since college Meghan has been super busy. She held several positions relating to public relations, events, and community involvement. Through her experience with non-profit organizations she found her calling and decided start a family foundation.

Not only being one of the only people I know who is actually born in Arizona, she’s a fifth-generation Arizona resident and bringing back/continuing her family legacy was very important to her. Some Pearce family history is that her great-grandfather had the coldest storage facility in the Valley to hold supplies for his local feed and grains business. Coors beer approached him to store their beer in his facilities and after Prohibition ended in 1933 he was awarded the Coors license and distributed it to stores and restaurants. The family business continued through her grandfather and her father until the company was sold in 2004. In 2013, Meghan founded Pearce Family Foundation and later in 2015 Meghan held the first Runway of Hope event at the same Old Coors Warehouse that her family has worked out of.

Meghan’s goal is to continue to create and plan events that are unique and different. The first year of the foundation Meghan raised more than $60,000 through events. After raising the funds she’s able to give grants to families to make their lives back at home after hospital stays and visits easier by paying for groceries, electric bills, getting service dogs, providing a vehicle for a family, etc.

If you have a friend, husband, co-worker, family member, etc. to go with then it’s really only $50 per person if you purchase the Socialites ticket, which is $100 and it actually comes with two general admission tickets and a swag bag. While you’re there you can enjoy the open bar, food, pop-up shops and the latest trends to walk the runway. Catherine Anaya will be the host for the evening with DJ Jimmy Stewart Jr. spinning the beats. There are a ton of silent auction items (Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin included), a photobooth, and so much more. I can’t wait to see you all there! It’s so great to think of all you’re doing to help others by attending such a fun event.
