Last Monday I was invited to the Runway Beauty Forecast event hosted by Phoenix Fashion Week at the Toni & Guy hairdressing academy in Scottsdale. The event was the perfect way for bloggers to get to know each other and learn about the hair styling techniques that Toni & Guy are offering the Phoenix Fashion Week models on the runway in October. Nail services, brow shaping and microZone treatments by Dermalogica were offered along with treats and champagne.

I took full advantage of the 30 minute facial and brow shaping. I even learned a few things about Dermalogica! Did you know that they have a Dermalogica concept space right here in Old Town Scottsdale?! I didn’t know that either! When you visit, you can receive a free face mapping skin analysis and visit the skin bar to learn which products are best for your skin and your skin care goals. They also offer the same microZone treatments, like I received, for only $30 or if you’re interested in the bioactive peel they have that too! It sounds like the perfect option for the woman on the go who wants to learn how to take care of her skin, but doesn’t have longer than 30 minutes to spare. Above is a photo of me before the facial, below is during and after. IMG_3670  IMG_3672 The best part about the night (other than everything else I’ve already told you about) are the two Dermalogica products that I got to take home. The Hydrablur Primer and the Multi-Active Toner. I don’t typically use toners. It’s another step in my skin care regimen that I usually forget about. I found a face lotion that has toner in it that I thought would be great to reduce that extra step, but it actually made my skin feel dryer than usual (more on this product later). The fact that this toner is in a spray bottle makes it much easier for me. I know that sounds silly, but I don’t need to go digging for a cotton ball and it feels refreshing. I spray it over my entire face with closed eyes and I don’t feel any burning or tingle like I typically do with others, so my fear of drying out my skin is no longer there. Then afterwards I use a moisturizer that gives me the right amount of hydration. IMG_3676 I am obsessed with primers. I usually have at least 2-3 different primers in my medicine cabinet that I use daily (two other primers are discussed in a previous blog post here). Some primers I’ve found to work for different purposes; help make-up last longer, wrinkle reducer, minimize fine lines, help make-up go on smoother, etc. This primer is known for blurring fine lines and pores, while hydrating and brightening skin. The consistency reminds me of greek yogurt. It’s a bit thicker than other primers I’ve used and it’s a little chunky and paste like. I noticed that I needed just slightly more than I normally would use to cover my entire face and neck. It worked great under my make-up to help it last longer, apply my make-up smoother and help my skin/make-up look better. I would feel confident putting it on by itself and running to the grocery store.
