Today’s look is one of my absolute favorites. It’s also the last holiday party look from Hues of Ego that features pants. Since there are so many details that tie into this head to toe look, I’ll be discussing the outfit today and the accessories and coat at a later date. But first let’s discuss the pant…

The Mary Sue Pant: There is something so special about a blush pink pant, especially when it resembles the favorite style worn by the iconic Marilyn Monroe (for an article discussing Marilyn’s fashion influence: click here). The Mary Sue pant by Hues of Ego is a cigarette/ankle pant with a tailored fit. Similar to the pants favored by Marilyn, they have a clean look without front or back pockets. They are beautifully constructed and fit comfortably snug. The zipper is in the front with a flat hook and eye closure to add to the comfortable fit. Growing up as someone who could never catch up to those awkward growth spurts, I’ve been scared from having too many “high water” pants. My legs were a bit too long for the regular pant sizes and this was before the genius idea of making a “long-size” for pants. The beauty of the Mary Sue pant is that the bottom hem is supposed to be at your ankle! It’s brilliant – now you can show off your shoes too!

The Top: I found this top a couple years back while I was working for BCBG Max Azria. It’s one of my favorite tops. It’s so unique with the layered silk and little details of clear beads to reflect a slight shine. I tend to save this top for special occasions and I knew the box shape and cropped length would pair perfectly with the Mary Sue pant, especially for a holiday party look.

The Accessories: Not to take away from the structure and style of the top, I decided to pair it with the Lillienne earrings  and the Carmen ring from Possibility jewelry. I’ll be breaking down the Lucite jewelry pieces worn in today’s look on the blog at a later date. This jewelry is something that I’ve never seen before and I’m so excited to talk more about it! To hold you over until part 2 of today’s blog post, I have the jewelry information below. The little clutch matches the silver and holiday theme perfectly. This is something that I wore to a friends wedding back in 2008. I think it was actually borrowed from a high school prom look (gasp!) and purchased from Cache. It’s the perfect size to fit my phone, lipstick, ID and cash. What more do you need! Lastly, the shoes are the same shoes shown in the first holiday look (blog post here). They’re my wedding shoes by Jimmy Choo in style Isabel. The kitten heel allows me to wear them for hours!

To Recap: This look is perfect for a holiday party. The subtle colors used in this look would also work great for a bride-to-be event like a shower, rehearsal, brunch, etc. I would dress it down with a pair of ballet flats and a chunky sweater for a put-together weekend look that is casual enough to be worn during the day. Or dress it up with black strapy heels and a black leather jacket to give off an edgy look for a night out. I love playing with hard and soft / girly and edgy. The possibilities with this pant are endless!
