My favorite go-to summer lip colors are by MAC. It’s no surprise that I love hot pinks and bright oranges, but I haven’t shared much information about these colors that I’m consistently wearing. I don’t always mention the name of the MAC lipstick in my photos because sometimes I’m wearing a couple colors in one. If you love bright colors like me, but don’t want to buy a lip liner and lipstick in every color, it’s really easy and cost effective to purchase your lipstick staples and maybe one liner or possibly one gloss if you like the shine.

Below: Candy Yum Yum, Silly, and Make Me Gorgeous

Candy Yum Yum, featured below, is my absolute favorite hot pink. It has a touch of neon in it to really make a statement. I decided to purchase the matching Candy Yum Yum lip liner, because it was slightly cheaper than some of the other liners that are long lasting. I find that this liner still last for hours, which is a long time in my book.

Wearing the lip liner and matching lipstick is a great way to go when trying out new colors. It helps to get used to the color, but if you want a touch of another hue, I’d suggest testing out other lipsticks in the same color family. Below I’m wearing the Candy Yum Yum liner with Make Me Gorgeous lipstick, which has an orange hue and gives me a bit more warmth than the Candy Yum Yum that actually has blue undertones instead of red.

Silly doesn’t have as much neon as Candy Yum Yum, so on the days when I want a bright pink, but don’t want to make as much of a statement I choose Candy Yum Yum liner with Silly lipstick. You can even go as far as adding a pale pink lip gloss to lighten the color and dull the brightness.

Below I added a pinkish gloss on top of my color to add some shine. Typically I prefer the matte look that the lipsticks offer, but occasionally I like to add a touch of gloss in the middle of my bottom lip to give it a plump look.

If you don’t currently play with different colors, hopefully now you’ll give it a try. Comment below which colors you tested. The great thing about MAC is that they will allow you to test different lip colors all day if you’d like. I usually will take a photo of each lip color or lip liner/lipstick combination I try so that I can scroll through them and see which one I think looks the best. As a reminder, if you don’t have the same amount of make-up on that you would normally when you wear that color, it could look a bit off to you. Once you have a full face of make-up, the bright lip colors usually feel a bit more comfortable and you don’t feel like bright lips are so out of place. If you already wear a variety of lip colors, please comment below which ones are your go-to’s.

Be you, bravely.
