Early September, I took a work trip to Cleveland for a week. Upon arrival I met up with local photographer and owner of Pinwheel Photography Colleen Ward. Colleen brought Gracie with her as a second photographer for the shoot and the three of us took a mini tour of their great city while snapping photos along the way. More info here.
The first stop we made was on a dock with gorgeous views of the water and the city. I’m wearing one of my favorite dresses for the transitional weather months that we’re currently in, but more on that in my next post. Today, I’m focusing on the accessories that I’m wearing and I love mixing and matching. You’ll notice that I’m wearing yellow gold, rose gold, and silver – it all works together!
Sunglasses – A good pair of shades can make or break an outfit. These days there are so many sunglass options and you don’t have to spend a fortune to buy a couple different styles. Today’s style is RB 3532 by Ray-Ban. These are a bit unique and I had to hunt to get exactly what I wanted. I desperately wanted a pair of colored reflective glasses, but the pair they typically sell in most stores and online is a light blue color. I wanted the dark blue/purple color to really stand out. I found these at Nordstrom and had to pay a little more because they actually fold in half. Also, I’ve been wearing square or semi-circle glasses for so long, that I needed to add a round shape back into my sunglasses collection. I tend to gravitate towards Ray-Bans because they are well made, not too expensive and last forever. They are made so well that typically in my experience, I loose them before they fall apart. I still wear my Clubmasters that I’ve had since 2009. The other thing is that if they go out of style, just wait, they’ll come back in style before too long. Maybe not in the next year or next 5 years, but their styles are so classic that I’m sure you’ll wear them again. My sister-in-law has a pair from her grandpa that are over 20 years old with glass lenses in perfect condition.
Bracelets – A good stack goes a long way, bracelets that is! I can’t get enough Alex & Ani bracelets. I thought maybe I would get sick of them by now, but they keep coming out with new metal colors, new designs, and new charms. Each bracelet is meaningful because it was a gift or is a charm that reminds me of something special in my life. Another great bracelet company is Bourbon & Bowties. These bracelets are bangles like Alex & Ani, but they’re made with stones placed around the entire bracelet. I have two and am obsessed with both.
Rocksbox – I’ve talked about Rocksbox before, but if you don’t know what it is I’ll tell you again! Rocksbox is a designer jewelry subscription program, which means that you pay a monthly fee to receive unlimited amounts of designer jewelry sent to your door. You return the items after you wear them, unless you fall in love with a must buy item. If that happens, Rocksbox offers discounted pricing for you to purchase an item. Plus, each month they give you $10 to go towards a piece of jewelry. My favorite thing about using Rocksbox is that I don’t have to invest a ton of money into my jewelry and end up never wearing it. You pay $19 a month and if you receive an item that you don’t like, you can mail it back the next day and get a new box just a couple days later. I typically wear my jewelry for a week to try it with different outfits and to gauge how much I truly like it. Then I send it back and if I’m still thinking about a piece of jewelry a month later, I’ll reach out to customer service and locate that piece for purchase. To test out Rocksbox for a month, use my referral code in order to waive the cost, THEFOXYKATXOXO.
