On November 4th, 2017, I was in Chicago for my cousin, Timmy’s wedding and I thought it would be fun to meet up with a photographer for a local shoot. For the first look, I went for a casual Arizona winter ensemble and included my cousin Sara, who has a similar fashion sense to me (click here to read about the fashion and click here to read about the hairstyle.) For the second look, I decided to wear what I was wearing to the wedding and to shoot at the wedding venue, which was the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago, Illinois along Lake Michigan.

This day was actually raining outside, so a break from the drizzle and clouds was very much welcome. Inside the nature museum there is the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven where butterflies have full roam to flutter around and land where ever they please. I’ve never been to a butterfly conservatory before, but I have heard from friends how it can actually be a spiritual experience to witness nature that up close.

It was definitely fun to see them fly around and to get a closer look when they would land. At this museum they have a variety of exhibits including the butterflies, like butterfly yoga and allowing visitors during the First Flight Release when butterflies and moths take flight for the first time after turning from a caterpillar.

If you’re visiting Chicago or local to the city and haven’t been before, I highly suggest going to the Nature Museum. It’s perfect for a rainy day like in my instance. Also, you don’t have to have children to go (although they would love it), it’s also great for the big kids in your life too. After the wedding ceremony, the cocktail reception was in the nature museum exhibits, so we were able to explore and enjoy the games like you would during the day. This venue was perfect for the bride and groom, and I loved how it added another element of activities for everyone to enjoy.

As for the fashion, I fell in love with this BCBG dress months prior to the wedding. I knew the wedding was at the Nature Museum, so I wanted to create a bohemian look with loose curls, braids and a flowy dress. I didn’t imagine that my dress would also have a floral print that allowed me to blend in with the nature backdrop as well. I think it turned out perfectly. To finish off the look, I decided to go for a bold red lip and nail color in order to bring the color out of the light blue dress. This dress is no longer available online, however I picked some of my favorites below that resemble the vibe that my dress gives off. Which dress below is your favorite? Leave a comment!
