Everyone has that “go-to” outfit for different seasons… For me it’s usually a sweater and a scarf for winter, shorts and sandals for spring and a sundress for summer.  Fall nights in Arizona are tricky. Will it be too cold for a dress or too hot for jeans and long sleeves? I have the perfect combination that works for most situations. It’s classy, yet fashionable. It’s dressy, but not over the top. It works for happy hours with the girls, a dinner date with the husband, going out with friends and a day at the office. Here’s my checklist:

Silk Blouse ✔

Skinny Jeans ✔

Black Pumps ✔

Vintage Clutch ✔

Statement Jewelry ✔

Loose Curls ✔

Silk Blouse: Although I have a lot of silk tops and they’re from many different designers (Madewell, Barney’s Co-Op, Mason, Brian Reyes, Diane Von Furstenberg, Trina Turk, Elie Tahari, etc.), the two that are shown here (and my personal favorites) are by Joie from Barneys, which I’ve also found at Nordstrom. I love the ease and flowy silhouette that they give. You can make them sexy for a night out by letting a black bra barely show through or you can add a camisole underneath in order to make it work appropriate. Look for the styles that are flattering for your body type and come in a color or print that catches your eye. Both blouses are on-sale on Tradesy, eBay and PoshMark.

Skinny Jeans: I believe that black or dark denim can instantly dress up an outfit to an evening look. However, grey and white denim is one of my favorite looks right now. I believe with the right shoes, top and accessories grey/white denim can do the trick too. The denim shown here is black J Brand jeans. They have the perfect amount of stretch without being a legging. My other go to jean is Joe’s Jeans in a skinny leg. Black jeans are on-sale on Tradesy, eBay and PoshMark.

Black Pumps: The shoes I’m wearing here are YSL pumps. They add a lot of height, but only last comfortably on my feet for a couple hours. Other great options are boots in any style: over the knee, riding boots or ankle booties. Go for a polished look with heels or for a more relaxed look with a flats. If your top and jeans need some pizazz try an edgy shoe that has some sort of embellishment like studs or buckles. Steve Madden is one of my favorite go-to for pumps and boots.

Vintage Clutch: For a night out I always grab my clutch. It complements the outfit without drawing too much attention. Also, I have to have a purse that at least fits my phone, cash, license and a lip stick. Anything bigger than that is too big to lug around all night.

Statement Jewelry: The style and print of your blouse will determine what type of jewelry you should wear. For instance, the red blouse has a neckline that doesn’t work with some short necklaces. A long necklace would take away from the wrap effect of the style, so I opted for a chunky vintage bracelet and statement ring. A nice pair of earrings would work great here as well. Usually I would stay away from a necklace on the printed top, since it’s so busy, but I chose a light silver multi-chain long necklace (from The Limited) to help break up the print. The necklace is subtle, but gives the outfit a little something.

Loose Curls: I always feel more presentable and fancier when my hair is curled. It’s totally a perception and personal preference thing for me. As long as your hair and make-up are done and you feel good, then you look good!
