With Phoenix Fashion Week starting today, Thursday, October 2nd, 2014, I thought it would be helpful to revisit some of the main looks from the designers at New York Fashion Week… I guess this also counts as a #TBT post as well 🙂 Click each picture to go to the designer’s runway collection slideshow at Vogue.com.

RTW Spring 2015 fashion is all about contradictions and big ideas, like feminine prints and utilitarian styling. The feminine looks have a mix of pink pastels and hits of bright colors. The combination of reds and blues was very prominent, whether it was a true red and blue or some variation like a raspberry and turquoise, as well as black and white combinations.

The details that were most replicated throughout designers were deep v necks, high slits, cape sleeves, bell shapes in tops and skirts, wide dolman sleeves, cut-outs and asymmetry whether it was an asymmetrical skirt bottom or neckline. The styles that are here to stay are bra tops and high waisted pants, what I like to call party skirts (synches your waistline and goes out from the hips), belts worn higher on the natural waistline, see through fabrics to represent a short but covered skirt and lastly, button down tops or outwear worn with short skirts.

Some of the designers borderline fantasy, while others are channeling their earlier days as young designers as I noticed a lot of 1960’s and 1970’s influence. For Spring, you’ll be sure to see a lot of stripes, bold thick stripes, angled stripes and other combinations of both. Below are some of my favorite and not so favorite designs.
