2017 marked the year of skincare for me! I set out with a goal to take better care of my skin by investing in proper treatments and products for my skincare needs. Sometimes awareness is what it takes to create a successful new habit. I paid attention to how my skin was changing and reacting from external factors like weather, the foods I ate, my skincare routine, etc. At the time of my final two microcurrent treatments the weather was drastically changing from fall to winter.

Something that helped a lot was Kimberly told me to change up how I use the products. I began using a different face wash in the morning, which was more calming and gentle on my skin. In contrast, the cleanser I use at night is strong enough to get all of the dirt and makeup off. Also, I use a toner in the mornings after cleansing and a SPF moisturizer. At nights I don’t need to use the toner since my cleanser can take off all dirt and makeup (although, if I’m wearing more makeup on the weekends or for a photoshoot, I will preclease before using the cleanser at night) and the lotion is a little heavier than my daytime lotion. Of course I have eye cream for both morning and night to layer underneath the lotions. This routine maximizes moisture for me during the dry months of the year while also reducing breakouts.

Be sure you are aware of how your skin changes as we head into warmer months. It’s a good idea to do a full skin analysis along with educating yourself on the products you’re using. If you’re not sure, I highly suggest reaching out to your aesthetician or contacting Kimberly for help. They are the professionals and have lots of education to provide you with knowledgeable advice.

After a month break of microcurrent between my 11th and 12th treatments for dermaplaning (read more here) I was pleasantly surprised by my results below. Just like working out, microcurrent works best when you continue treatments on a regular basis since the treatment is essentially working out your face muscles to smooth wrinkles. I am constantly squinting and furrowing my eyebrows, which you can see in the before picture on the left. On the right, you can see after my 12th microcurrent treatment and the difference it made between my eyebrows. Not to mention, the treatment smoothed out my skin in general and helped to clear my breakouts near my eyebrows.

If you’re considering a treatment to reduce wrinkles, I highly suggest microcurrent facials. I have tagged each review I wrote throughout my year of skincare. Now that my resolution for 2017 is technically over, it doesn’t mean my skincare goals go away. With these habits I’ve created, I’m going to continue to take better care of my skin in order to keep it healthy throughout my life. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feel free to comment below. I’ve also included the information for the aesthetician, Kimberly, below who performed these treatments.
