Happy National Dog Day! Oddly enough, I planned a charity workout today as a fun and different way to celebrate my 33rd birthday and it ended up being National Dog Day too. What a great coincidence because the proceeds went to the Angel Pups Around Us program through the Pearce Family Foundation. This program allows the financial support that families need who have children suffering from chronic illness. Specifically through the Angel Pups program, the funding goes towards a service dog for the child. Today, through ticket sales and raffle donations, we raised $811 for a dog to have the necessary training to become a service dog and to be paired with a child in need.

Thank you all who attended the workout at BODI in Old Town Scottsdale and to those of you who weren’t able to make it, but still made a donation. Actually, the most successful part of the event was the raffle. There were nine companies who donated raffle items, six raffle prizes that raised funds through ticket sales and one raffle prize that was ran through social media. My brother gave me the idea to offer the raffle tickets to the public because he wasn’t able to make it. Within a couple minutes of posting the idea to my Instagram Stories I already had a handful of people Venmo’ing me money for specific raffles that they wanted to enter. Because of all of your support regardless of whether you attended or not, we were able to bypass my goal of a $500 donation!
It was so special to be able to share something that I love doing everyday with my friends and family who mean so much to me, and to be able to make new friends too! BODI has become a big part of my life and routine. The workouts help me to clear my head, get rid of stress and also give me strength to conquer new challenges. I couldn’t believe 46 people purchased tickets and 40 people were able to join for the workout (not including myself or the instructor.) I was able to work with Harper, who taught the class, to come up with a unique workout created for our group. She designed a Strength class with some Sweat class moves. We had 10 different exercises that were each 30 seconds long. We did each exercise once until we completed all 10. After rounds two and four, we broke out into partner moves that were mainly Sweat exercises or cardio exercises. We completed the warm up, demonstration, workout and cool down in under 60 minutes!
